Book Three in The Hollywood Series

Author: Jae

Description

A famous actress falls for the female PR agent she hired to stop rumors about her sexuality in this heartfelt lesbian slow-burn romance.

An actress practically since birth, Grace Durand has finally made it in Hollywood. When a photo of her in a seeming compromising situation with another woman is plastered all over the tabloids, she fears for her career as a lead in romantic movies.

Desperate for a publicist who’ll convince America that she’s straight, Grace hires Lauren Pearce, one of Hollywood’s leading PR agents, not knowing that she’s a lesbian.   Lauren has dealt with PR nightmares for years, so doing damage control for one more rich, spoiled client shouldn’t be a problem—or so she thinks. But the more time she spends with Grace, the more she realizes how different she is from her television persona.

Getting involved with her client is not in her game plan, especially since it would confirm the rumors and ruin Grace’s career, but the attraction between them is growing as they run the gauntlet of the paparazzi together.

    You Have to Love Jae….
Jae tells the sweetest love stories. I can always count on her for a light hearted, feel good escape and it is one of the things I admire about her most.

Damage control is about Grace, a big name actress, who becomes involved in a scandal at the worst time in her career. Having been her mother’s puppet for far too long, she at long last takes control of her life. She starts to live for her with a little help from her BFF Jill and her publicist Lauren.

I just can not say enough good things about this book. Its beautifully written, loving, tender, maddening at times and funny at others. There is a perfect blend of angst and desire between Grace and Lauren. They both grow as individuals along the way and the ending could not have been any better!!!!

This is the second in Jae’s Hollywood Series. I loved Departure from the Script every bit as much. Don’t quote my but I’ve heard whispers of a third book. I really hope its true and soon!!

I think Amelia Faith said it all. It’s an amazing book. Well written, light hearted and a great book to read after a bad day. It just lift up your spirit.

    Definitely recommend it

I enjoyed this book because it was a true Jae-escape. It was a quick read, for me at least. I loved watching the sparks, wanted to slap Grace’s mother, cheered for Jill and I have cabin envy too! The other thing that I enjoyed was the way that Jae’s other work, Shaken To The Core, was brought into the plot. It was a neat little surprise.
I thought the characters were fleshed out very well, right down to Lauren’s ‘tell’ of her exhaustion. Little details like that add layers that I appreciate. While the setting, particularly the cabin, are always exactly what’s needed, it never over-shadows the characters or their issues. Everything in balance. This was a great book!

Fabulous continuation of Jae’s Hollywood series, with some familiar characters. I love seeing secondary characters getting their stories told. The tension and trials Grace and Lauren go through keep the drama high right to the end – this was a big positive. I was kept guessing – would they make it? The mark of a good romance, I think. Well written as always, and an interesting colourful story with well-rounded characters. On to the next one!

    Stars: 5 Stars
    Format: Digital
Series: The Hollywood Series Book 2
    Steam Level: Steamy

I read this for the I Heart Sapphic 2026 Reading Challenge for the location California.

Apparently I had mostly wrote a review for this back when I first read it but never finished writing it so a couple of thoughts might feel a little dated (mostly the first one.)

    Quick Thoughts:
    – This was not a series I was super excited to read only because it is not a setting I’m usually drawn to. Holy smokes did Jae ever change that
    – Loved all the characters in this book though I wanted to shake Grace’s mom a lot (and sometimes Grace too so she’d stand up for herself)
    – Jill! I loved this character bunches and the twist that happens with her (no spoilers!) was perfect. Not only was she genuinely funny but also a true friend to Grace. I am over the moon to (re)read her romance next
    – The scene where Grace and Lauren go visit Jill for the first time had me in stitches
    – I really like that Jae took her time to write these two not only falling in love but also becoming friends too
    – Love love love that Amanda made a guest appearance and that Central Precinct was brought back
    – The birthday party was too dang cool and fun. I’d totally be down for something like that
    – These two are just too dang adorable together
    – There are some lesbian romances jump to love and forever really quick to the point you go “wait, you’ve known her for three weeks and spent a total of 5 hours together!” While there wasn’t a lot of time months wise in this story, they spent a LOT of hours together
    – On a personal level, I’m not interested in the movie business but nothing in the book seemed glaringly wrong
    – My only real complaint is that certain things got repeated to where it seemed repetitive. Like Lauren saying she didn’t make friends with clients. But I could be just a bit sensitive to this at the moment because of a couple of books I read not that long ago just repeated things to the point that it felt like the author thought their readers were morons

Overall I LOVED this book. It is because of this series that I had decided to reread Jae’s whole backlist, even things I’ve read pretty recently. I have been slowly reading her stuff mostly so I could stretch it out and always have a book to look forward to. I’m officially giving up on that. Jae is an auto buy author that everyone needs to check out!
