Book Three in the Series Cops and Docs

Author: KD Williamson

Description

In this lesbian romance a psychiatrist and a police officer meet under dangerous circumstances. Will they be strong enough to find love?

Psychiatrist Dr. Tonya Preston lives a life of cool detachment, often sacrificing her personal needs to appease her opinionated father. She often finds it easier to deal with patients than confront her family or her own issues. When her path dramatically crosses that of irrepressible rookie police officer Haley Jordan, she’s thrown out of her comfort zone. Things have come easy for Haley, who has a drama-free life filled with love and friends that Tonya finds as alluring as the irreverent woman behind the badge. An attraction simmers between them, drawing them to each other. But will it be enough when work, family and a confronting police case starts to tear at their fledgling relationship?

Simply saying that I love this book would be too superficial because this story really touched me, it had me hooked from the first page and I read this book in two days. I just could not put it down because I fell head over heels in love with both Haley and Tonya! I was so caught up in the way they loved each other, this story has me wishing for a romance like theirs! I stayed up really late just reading and enjoying every moment, every word and I must say it was so worth it! Both late nights of reading were so worth it!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and my favorite thing about is how Tonya and Haley became close friends before they even began dating, giving their relationship a rock solid foundation to build on which only became stronger through every conflict and subsequent resolution. I very much look forward to reading what else this author has in store for us!

After the first two books of KD Williamson I was really looking forward to this one. And once again it’s a great book. The growing feelings between Tonya and Haley, the insecurity, everything is written like you know exactly how it feels. For me it was a little bit special because of the “Southerner Slang“ (can I say it like that..???). But it’s so worth it to read this book.

I really enjoyed this book. The author has a very fluid writing style which makes it easy to read. I enjoyed it so much I couldn’t put it down. The characters are easy to get to know and the author allows you to become involved with them on all levels. The book itself revolves primarily around the two lead characters, with some secondary characers which add to the book greatly. It tackles some hard hitting issues but where in majority of books you read you see the issues solved. What I particularly liked was the book didn’t resolve them which made it take on a realistic stance. I would like to see a sequel because I’d like to know how Tonya and Haley get on, how they deal with Tonya’s dad and come on what happens to Tim. Read. You’ll enjoy it.

This is my first time doing an ARC and posting any kind of review. Wow! Okay where do I start here? I think some people will really get this book and some won’t. It is a slow burn first of all which I didn’t mind at all. It was a courtship in a way and a delight to read Tonya and Haley get to know each other. It was a natural and very mature progression that I’m sure some people may not have patience with, but it was like getting to know real people and watching them fall in love. They talk on the phone, they date, they meet the friends and so on. The romance was sweet and HOT and I do mean hot. She builds that tension slowly so that when it gets there it’s on fire. That’s one of the things I really loved. The other thing was the characters. You get to know them first, separately. KD went deep and without that I don’t think I would’ve liked Tonya but the more I read about her the more I understood. The more I wanted to know. She’s strong and caught between doing her duty in taking care of her family and making her own path. Her father is a trip but being a lesbian in the black community especially and dealing with family isn’t always easy. Haley is a delight from the start she likes her cereal and her women drama free. She’s funny, sarcastic and has a huge heart that’s easily seen with her friends, Tonya and even her partner. You get a peek into both Tonya and Haley’s career. I don’t know how she does it but KD makes these characters fly off the page. The dialogue, the tension, the humor, the sex and the little drama just blends all together very nicely. Even Haley’s partner Tang was fleshed out and the lead up to their conflict was realistic and built nicely. It’s a long book but the writing style makes things flow. This is book 3 but it seems like a stand alone story but if the other two are as good as this one. I definitely will be giving them a look. This was a very good book and addictive as well.

This is the third book I’ve read from KD Williamson, and I loved every one.
The author is able to mix the main story (the romance) with more than one subplots (Tonya’s family and Haleys job) perfectly. It’s a great story about love, friendship, loyalty mixed with crime and drama.
I loved Tonya and Haley’s slowly blossoming relationship, despite at first glance, the two of them doesn’t fit together. It was nice to see how they come closer and closer to each other and to find out more about their personalities. And the love scenes are hot.
It was also very interesting to learn about Tonya’s familiy history and how she tried to change the dynamics between her father and her sister. You could actually feel her struggling with the past and the present, and it was nice to see, that this made her stronger.
The second storyline about Haley and her partner Tang was a strong and well developed subplot too. There were several conflicts they had to solve.
Over all it’s a well balanced romance with enough drama, emotions and humor. A satisfying read and I’m looking forward to another one from KD.
I give this story 4,5 stars.
Thanks to Ylva for receiving an ACR for a honest review. Sorry for my not correct english writing, my native language is swiss german.

This is the 3rd book from the series but it’s a stand alone and it’s my favorite so far. The author did an excellent job in building the characters. You slowly get to know all of them, the past dramas, the sense of humor, their professional life. Tonya is a very serious person due to her upbringing, sacrificed her life for her family until she finally accepts that if she wants to be happy she has to carve a new path and stop looking for something inside her family that will never be there. Haley is young, fun and free that knows what she wants and fights for it. Just like between friends we see (read) their growing relationship and the changes that naturally occur within you and when you meet someone, fall in love and are happy.
In terms of character building it’s one of the best books I ever read, because you get to know them so well that you’re able to predict that some of them are going to make bad choices even before you get the clues.
The story is very well built and balanced, you have enough drama, emotions, humour and hot sex scenes. It’s with cops but it’s not a crime novel, so no blood or gory details ( thank you!) which for me is a huge plus since I’m fed up with everything related with crimes and as such is a big turn off.
Overall it’s a very interesting book that took me 2 days to finish and I really love it.

I have become a fan of all of Ms. Willamson’s novels; she is easily one of my favorite lesfic authors. Between the Lines is now my fave from her cops & docs series; it’s a book I can continually pick up and read, because of the characters’ social, emotional and sexual experiences throughout the story. I found myself identifying a lot with Tonya’s experience and thoroughly enjoying Haley’s and Tonya’s most exciting and intimate moments. Between the Lines is a thought provoking, adventurous and highly sensual read, and I highly recommend it to all of Ms. Williamson’s fans and new readers. Like always, I look forward to KD’s next new thrilling novel. ?

As the third in the Cops and Docs series, ‘Between The Lines’ is a worthy read. The main characters, Tonya and Haley are captivating. As the reader you want to find out more about who they are, what they are like in their jobs as well as in their personal lives. The support cast enhance’s the story and enables Tonya and Haley’s relationship to be viewed from different points of view.
Realistic, funny, sad, emotional, developed, intriguing, dramatic, romantic… some of the words to describe this book.
I have enjoyed reading it and look forward to future novels by KD Williamson.

I can’t praise ‘Between the Lines ‘ highly enough. If I could give it 10 stars I really would. Tonya is a psychiatrist who is having to attend therapy herself to deal with serious family issues. She meets cop Hayley in a very unexpected way and they hit it off immediately. What follows is a journey for Tonya that will see her makes long overdue changes and Hayley is the catalyst in all of this. The romantic element was slow burning but worth the wait. It was absolutely scorching again and again and again! I didn’t want this book to end and savoured every moment. The story had an element of threat for both main characters and had me hoping it was all going to be work out. KD Williamson really knows how to keep the reader on the edge of their seat. A fantastic book that has me wanting to go back and read it all again from the start.

I was given this ARC by Ylva Publishing in return for an honest review.
