Love the book! Not what I was expecting and so much better. The story has several unexpected twists and it’s very well written. The first 50% of the book I was not sure if it was going to click, but when it did I just couldn’t put it away. Excellent read! Do not expect an erotic book or a sex scene in every corner, in spite of what the cover and the tittle might suggest. It’s an excellent thriller and I really liked.

I absolutely loved this story. Zedde does a terrific job creating such wonderful MCs. Agnus is a force to be respected and possibly feared. The successor who reshapes the House of Agnus from the more brutal business her father left. Agnus keeps herself closed off from everyone but Whit and Gretchen, until. Lola is on a mission to stop the woman who changed her life, her family. You know the saying keep your enemies closer, both women try to do just that. The chemistry between Agnus and Lola is palpable throughout and while both have their own agenda, neither can deny their pull toward each other no matter how hard they try. As Agnus navigates treacherous waters from an unknown entity as well as the subtext she detects with Lola, she must remain on guard and protect the one thing that matters more to her than anything. Lola continues to work to learn the secrets Agnus keeps hidden in her search for justice and as she learns more, questions what she thought she knew. An unexpected return throws both women into turmoil both personally and professionally. From fierce and brave to vulnerable and caring, the story will draw you in and keep you invested to see if the House truly does win in the end.

House of Agnes by Fiona Zedde has all of the elements I look for in an exceptionally good contemporary romance. This novel is an enemies-to-lovers, age gap romance with a fair dose of mystery and intrigue. The story includes a gorgeous ice queen as a main character with an equally beautiful love interest. Add an exciting plot, a young child, and a few unsavory characters, and we have everything we need for our reading pleasure.
Agnes Noble runs a very exclusive escort agency. She is known as Queen Agnes by her employees as well as the clients who use her agency’s services. She runs the business as any queen would…with ultimate control over what happens. Lola Osbourne is an investigative journalist who is out to infiltrate the House of Agnes to get the information she needs to bring down the business and its owner. She blames the House and Agnes for what happened to her sister. There is a big problem with Lola’s plans though…the almost instant attraction she feels for Agnes.
This is an exciting story filled with intrigue, desire and lust. The mystery and intrigue are well-written and kept my interest though the whole book. The steamy sex scenes are exactly what I expect from a Fiona Zedde novel.
While this is a plot driven novel, the characters really made the story for me. Agnes is the perfect ice queen, and Lola makes a great love interest for her. The secondary characters are also well-developed.
I really enjoyed reading this book. If you adore ice queens, steamy love scenes, and romance mixed with exciting mystery and intrigue, then look for this book.
I received an ARC from Ylva Publishing for an honest review.

This was the first book I’ve read by this author and look forward to reading more! The characters and storyline drew me and kept my interest all the way through till the end. House of Agnes is a fantastic contemporary romance between Agnes and Lola which takes the reader on a well written journey of intrigue, turmoil and love.
I received a free arc in exchange for an honest review.

A very good read. Classy and entertaining.

Fabulous story summed up perfectly by the first line of the blurb – A lesbian romance filled with intrigue and sizzling sexual tension as enemies discover that the other side of hatred…is desire.
Gretchen was a highlight of the story for me. Cold as Agnes could be, I got her. Boy did I get her. I could feel the walls she built around herself…until Lola came along.
Lola I wasn’t so fond of. I hoped I’d warm to her, but I never really did. I also had trouble buying into the “I’m in love with you” part of the story, but that didn’t stop me from loving the hell out of it.
I’ve read a number of books by Fiona Zedde, and this is my favourite to date.

Well… Drats. Another author who is going to make me pick up more shifts at work so I can buy all their books.
One book.
That’s all I needed to know I am going to be DEVOURING Fiona Zedde’s backlist.
Quick Thoughts:
– I fell in love with Agnes right from the jump. She is such a great, lovely, complex, character and it’s a treat watching her navigate the world she lives in and protect her people
– Lola on the other hand, took a little bit for me to warm up to simply because she seemed a bit too easily manipulated and naïve. There were a few points I wanted to shake the stupid out of her
– Their first full on sex scene was hot (it even included an extremely sexy strap scene)
– The back story of both characters were very dark and gave me a better understanding of their present day motivations
– At times the story felt like it dragged in some spots but it just seemed that way because of how immersive and fast paced it is in other places
– There are so many wonderful characters in this book that I would love to see get their own stories
– Gretchen is adorable and I was delighted to see how tightly she has Whit and Agnes wrapped around her little finger
– I might have “gone to bed early” on a non-work night saying I was sleepy but it was actually so I could finish this book. Don’t tell the wife
– The ending felt like it was wrapped up a little too easily but I could overlook it with how awesome it was to see all the plot threads come together
– This is one of a very few books that I didn’t feel cheated by them getting together at the end of the book. They had spent so much of the story building a relationship together that this ending worked for me
– The ONLY reason it took me so long to finish this is that it is an emotional roller coaster and I was so incredibly stressed at work I ended up listening to a book I’ve already finished four times this year to decompress
– This is the first book I’ve listened to by Mari (no last name given) and I,ultimately, ended up enjoying it even though I didn’t think she did a great job narrating first intimate scene. The later sex scene was done well and didn’t pull me out of the story like the first time. She won’t be someone I actively look for but she won’t be a deterrent to pick up a book
Overall I really really loved this book. I loved the characters, the setting, and the story. Before even finishing this review I have already picked up three more books by Fiona Zedde and they are absolutely shooting up my TBR.
