We are always on the lookout for exciting new writers that the world of lesbian fiction hasn’t discovered yet. But today, the entire Ylva Publishing team is thrilled to announce that a familiar face has joined our pack—award-winning author Caren Werlinger!
Caren writes her lesbian characters the way all characters should be written—complex and full of life, with all of life’s joys and unexpected upheavals included. Her intense, beautiful prose has a way of staying with you long after the final page is turned. The Lesbian Reading Room has called her work “…refreshing, consuming, and engaging.”
Her next novel, Turning for Home, will be available through Ylva Publishing in May 2015 and as German edition at the end of 2015.
Here is what Turning for Home is all about:
Like her mother before her, Jules Calhoon couldn’t wait to escape her small Ohio town. Unlike her mother, though, Jules couldn’t disappear forever. When she’s called back for her grandfather’s funeral, the visit unleashes a flood of memories and starts her on a lonely—and familiar—path.
Her partner, Kelli, feels Jules slipping away but can’t figure out how to pull her back. In desperation, she turns to Jules’s oldest friend—and her ex—Donna. The problem is, Donna never could figure out why her relationship with Jules ended so long ago, and she never stopped loving Jules.
When a lonely, confused teenager reaches out to Jules for help, the past and present are set on a collision course, igniting a chain of events that will leave none of them unscathed.
Caren will also become part of our submission board and our team of editors.
It’s great to have her on board. Welcome, Caren!
