All You Can Eat – Anthology Summer 2014

In our newest anthology, All You Can Eat: A Buffet of Lesbian Erotica and Romance, we published thirteen mouthwatering short stories. Chef R.G. Emanuelle and sous chef Andi Marquette created a menu that ranges from sweet and romantic to sultry and seductive.

Today, one of the contributing authors, Jove Belle, answers our questions about her short story, “Vanilla Extract.”

Welcome, Jove! Can you tell us a little bit about the story you contributed to All You Can Eat?

My story, “Vanilla Extract,” is about a chef who tries to teach her new love interest how to bake a cake without using a cake mix. Sexy good times follow.

What sparked the idea for this short story?

Sourcing for the food I eat is really important to me. I thought it would be fun to throw two women together who have completely different food philosophies, along with undeniable chemistry.

I’m sure you’ve heard the expression, “The way to a woman’s heart is through her stomach?” Does that hold true in your story too?

No, I think it’s the opposite, actually.

Do you have any personal experience with cooking or the food business, or did you have to do research for your story?

I have a lot of experience with eating. Does that count?

“Foodie” romance is a growing niche in romantic fiction. What do you think makes romantic stories featuring food and cooking so popular with readers?

Sharing a meal is deeply intimate and something that’s done universally. It’s something that every single person on the planet can relate to.

Can you tell us a bit about the project you’re currently working on, just to wet our appetite?

I’m working on a novel called Something Real. It’s about a vet with PTSD and a hotel manager who buys a small recreational motel in northern Idaho.

What’s your favorite food, your least favorite food, and the strangest thing you’ve ever eaten?

I love, love, love steak. I don’t know if it’s my favorite food, but it’s what I’m currently craving. I’m not a fan of pasta salad. Or cooked carrots. And, as a general rule, I try not to put strange things in my mouth.

If you ruled the world, what food would be the currency?

Tomatoes and eggs.

Thanks for taking the time to answer our questions, Jove!
